In Baldenburg, an evident family relationship did exist between members of the ZWIRTZ family and members of the following families: DALKE - FENZKE - GLANDER - GRÜTZMACHER - JANKE - LADEMACHER - PETERSON - RADLAFF
Only some decades later, in 1763 , another bearer of the family name ZWIR T Z is documented in a christening record of the Protestant Church of Baldenburg in Prussia (today Biały Bór, located in Poland): a Valentin SCHWIERTZ registered as godfather of a newborn girl with name Sophia DAHLKE. With high probability, this Valentin SCHWIERTZ is identical with Valentin ZWIRZ , who in the following years appears in the records on multiple occasions. At least until 1822 , there is proof of families with surname ZWIR T Z living in Baldenburg , the latest a young boy with name Carl ZWIRZ, who appears in the list of students attending the local elementry school. The male family members, without exception and most of them as masters, were working as cloth makers. Godparentship between those families can be taken as evidence that a family relationship between those families did exist. It is worth mentioning here that caused by a devastating fire in 1765, not all local church records are preserved. In conclusion, members of the family could have lived earlier in Baldenburg , than currently proven. Those bearers of the surname who were living in Baldenburg at that time are evidently members of the ZWIR T Z families in focus.
